Ideally when you decide to cook/bake something, you should only need to go out and buy the major ingredients in the recipe i.e. chicken, fish etc; the rest you should have in your kitchen already. We have assembled four essential lists of basic items every good cook should have in their kitchen.
Kitchen:
1. Sharp knives
2. Measuring cups and spoons
2. Wooden spoons
3. Good cookie sheets

4. Good pots/pans (preferably non-stick)
5. Hand mixer (something like a stand-up Kitchen Aid mixer is ideal but not totally necessary)
6. Pyrex glass casserole dishes – 3 sizes S/M/L
7. Different sized spatulas
8. Different sized tongs
9. Rice cooker (for rice or for steaming veggies)
10. Nesting mixing bowls
11. Cutting boards
12. Tupperware (all different sizes)

13. Foil/Saran wrap/wax paper/parchment paper (parchment paper really simplifies baking)
14. Muffin tin (regular size)
15. Strainer (for pasta)
Refrigerator:
1. Minced garlic
2. Butter
3. Eggs
4. Mayo
5. Cheese (Swiss, parmesan, cheddar are good staples)
6. Salad veggies

7. Milk
8. Mustards (variety)
9. Salad dressings
10. Lemon juice
Pantry:
1. Baking powder
2. Baking soda
3. Olive/Vegetable Oil
4. Sugar (white and brown)
5. Balsamic vinegar

6. Crisco
7. Flour
8. Pasta
9. Rice
10. Shoyu
11. Canned beans (white or black – whichever you prefer)
12. Furikake
13. Canned corn
14. Canned tuna
15. Tomato sauce
16. Cream of chicken and or mushroom soup
Spices/Flavorings:
1. Cinnamon
2. Curry
3. Salt/Pepper (in grinders)
4. Dried Basil

5. Dried Oregano
6. Chili Powder
7. Garlic Salt
8. Dried Rosemary
9. Dried Bay leaves
10. Vanilla (must-have for baking)
